It will also discuss the implications that would arise if a social work professional did not comply to the standards of conduct , performance and ethics. It can be argued that the values and ethics that underpin social work are at the core of the practice ; this is what separates it in a distinct manner amongst other professions in the health and social care field (Reamer 2013). First and foremost in order to discuss the importance of values and ethics in social work , it would make sense to establish their meanings. Values can be defined as principles or beliefs an individual finds important in their life (Beckett and Maynard, 2005). For example , one may identify themselves as a Muslim or a christian , both of which are examples of individuals believing in 2 different value systems.
